On March 25, BYD, the world’s leading manufacturer of New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) and power batteries, became the first automaker globally to produce 7 million New Energy Vehicles. A DENZA N7, bearing this milestone number for the company, rolled off the production line at the Chinan factory in China, marking another significant achievement for the manufacturer.
BYD reached its 1 million NEV production milestone in May 2021, and accelerated this number by tripling it within 18 months, surpassing 5 million units in just the next 9 months. Then, just 7 months later, BYD propelled production toward the 7 million units milestone, showcasing a dynamic supply chain from start to finish and the benefits of synergies and scale. In 2023, BYD’s total annual NEV sales rose to 3.02 million units, solidifying its position as the global leader in sales of environmentally friendly vehicles. Various models from the brand’s broad range led sales in their respective categories.
With strong activity in the international market, BYD rapidly expanded its global presence in 2023, achieving a remarkable increase in new energy passenger vehicle sales, exceeding 240,000 units in exports — a 337% increase over the previous year. To date, BYD’s New Energy Passenger Vehicles are available in 64 countries and regions worldwide, with strategic investments in manufacturing facilities in Thailand, Brazil, Uzbekistan, and Hungary. This year, BYD has become the official partner of the UEFA European Football Championship 2024™, introducing New Energy Vehicles to the global stage.
